Made famous in the late 1940'S and early 1950'S, Montreal Steak Seasoning soon found itself crossing the border south into the USA and further afield to Europe and beyond.


DA MALAT Montreal Steakhouse Seasoning goes back to the original roots of this spice blend, following one of the authentic Montreal steakhouse recipes. In our opinion, this is one of the best ever steak seasonings and we should know, we've tried dozens of them!!!


Perfect Rump Steak


Good quality, aged rump beef

1 x tsp DA MALAT Montreal Steakhouse Seasoning

Vegetable Oil

Knob of butter




lightly oil the piece of rump steak. Coat the steak in Montreal Steakhouse Seasoning and leave to rest for 30 minutes out of the fridge.


Heat a heavy based frying pan or griddle pan over a medium heat and add 2 tbsp oil and the knob of butter. When up to temperature, add the steak and fry on both sides until cooked -


We recommend the following cooking times for a 3.5cm thick rump steak:


Blue: About 1½ mins each side

Rare: About 2¼ mins each side

Medium-rare: About 3¼ mins each side

Medium: About 4½ mins each side


Alternatively you can cook on the BBQ.


Serve with home made peppercorn sauce, grilled tomato, mushrooms and fries dusted with American Diner Spice Mix
